Why Kailua Is Hard on a Car
Kailua is a great place to live and a rough place to own a car, and the reasons are different from the rest of the island.
Start with the rain. The windward side gets showers most days, and out here a car almost never fully dries out. That is not just a clean-car problem, it is a smell problem. Damp beach towels go in the trunk, wet slippers go on the floor mat, the windows stay up, and within a few weeks the whole interior has that musty note you stop noticing until someone else gets in. Left long enough it turns into actual mildew in the carpet backing and along the seat belts. It is the thing people notice most, and it does not come out with an air freshener. It takes a hot water extraction and a proper odor treatment.
Then there is the sand. Kailua and Lanikai sand is fine and powdery, which sounds better than Sandy Beach grit and is actually worse. It works deeper. It gets past the carpet into the padding, down the seat rails, into the seat belt retractors and the little channel under the door sill. Vacuuming pulls out the top layer and leaves the rest. If you have ever cleaned your car and still felt grit under your feet a week later, that is why.
The trees get the outside. Park under the ironwoods at the beach park or under a monkeypod in your own yard and you come back to sap. Sap is not dirt. It bonds to the clear coat and, if it bakes there, it etches a mark that a wash will never remove. Same with bird droppings, which are acidic and will leave a permanent ring in a matter of days. Getting those off safely means a clay bar and a chemical decontamination, not a scrub pad.
And if you are in Lanikai or anywhere along the water, add salt to the list. It sits on the paint as an invisible film and works on the clear coat, the trim and the wheels the entire time it is there.
None of this means your car has to look tired. It just means it needs the right work, not just a wash.

Lanikai is tight. Narrow lanes, limited street parking, and a lot of homes without much driveway. It is not a problem, but tell us when you book so we can plan where to set up instead of figuring it out on the spot.

A car that has spent a few years in windward weather does not show what it is actually worth. The paint looks flat, the interior smells like the beach, and every buyer and every dealer prices that in before they say a number. A few hundred dollars of work is usually the cheapest money you make back on the whole sale.

How Mobile Detailing Works
You book online, tell us where the car will be, and we take it from there.
We bring all our own equipment and product. All we need is access to an outside spigot and a standard outlet, plus enough room to open the doors and walk around the vehicle.
A Signature Detail runs about two to three hours. Ceramic coatings and paint enhancement take longer, and we will tell you what to expect when you book.
No travel fee to Kailua. It is part of our regular service area.
Rain is not usually a problem. We work through Kailua showers all the time. If it is genuinely coming down, or if we are doing a ceramic coating that needs dry conditions, we will message you and move the appointment rather than do it badly.

Signature Detail - Full interior and exterior with a 3 month paint sealant. $250 coupe or sedan, $300 midsize SUV, $350 large SUV or truck.
Legendary Package - Our full detail. Clay and iron decontamination, every surface steam cleaned, seats shampooed, and a 6 to 9 month ceramic sealant. $400 coupe or sedan, $450 midsize SUV, $500 large SUV or truck.
Gold Interior - Interior only. Full clean, floor mats conditioned, UV protectant on the dash. $175 coupe or sedan, $200 midsize SUV, $225 large SUV or truck.
Platinum Interior - Interior only, taken further. Everything steam cleaned and the seats extracted and shampooed. This is the one for a damp Kailua interior. $300 coupe or sedan, $350 midsize SUV, $400 large SUV or truck.
Clay and Seal - Exterior only. Clay bar, iron removal, 3 month sealant and premium tire dressing. Handles sap and bird etching. $200 coupe or sedan, $225 midsize SUV, $250 large SUV or truck.
Paint Enhancement - Single stage polish and buff to bring the gloss back, then a 6 to 9 month sealant. $400 coupe or sedan, $450 midsize SUV, $500 large SUV or truck.
Ceramic Coating
Bronze, 2 Year - $500 coupe or sedan, $600 midsize SUV, $700 large SUV or truck.
Gold, 3 Year - Includes a single stage paint enhancement before the coating goes on. $1,000 coupe or sedan, $1,100 midsize SUV, $1,200 large SUV or truck.
Diamond, 5 Year - Full single stage enhancement plus a ceramic windshield coating. $1,200 coupe or sedan, $1,300 midsize SUV, $1,400 large SUV or truck.
On the windward side a coating earns its keep two ways. Sap, salt and bird droppings sit on the coating instead of your clear coat, so they come off instead of etching in. Interior Shampoo and Extraction, $100 - Hot water extraction that pulls moisture, salt and sand out of the carpet and upholstery instead of just off the top.
Sand Removal, $100 - Lanikai sand out of the carpet backing, the seat rails and the door sills with the right tools.
Glass Coating, $100 windshield or $200 all windows - Rain beads and clears instead of smearing. Genuinely useful on the Pali in a downpour.
Trim Restoration, $50 - Faded gray plastic trim brought back to deep black with UV protection.

Keeping It That Way
On this side of the island, a car left alone between details goes backwards fast. The damp is constant and the sand comes back the same weekend.
Most of our Kailua clients run a maintenance schedule instead. Exterior wash, full interior vacuum, wipe down of every surface, and wax protection, on a set rhythm. It costs a fraction of letting it slide and paying for a correction later.
Weekly is $70 sedan, $80 midsize SUV, $90 large SUV or truck. Bi-weekly is $90, $100 and $110. Monthly is $90, $110 and $120.

A guy out here takes his car off-roading, and it came to us cooked. Sand and red dirt ground down into the carpet, into the seats, into every crease in the interior. That is not a vacuum job. Getting it out takes extraction and the right tools to pull it back up out of the padding and the seat rails. When we finished he said it looked brand new.
We are a small local operation, not a franchise with a call center. When you book, you get us. This business was built almost entirely on word of mouth from the windward and east side, and that only works if the car looks right when we leave.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you actually get the musty smell out of my car?
Usually, yes. A musty interior on the windward side is moisture that has gotten into the carpet padding and upholstery. It needs hot water extraction to pull the moisture and whatever is growing in it back out, followed by an odor treatment. An air freshener just covers it and it comes back in a week.
What if it rains the day of my appointment?
We work through normal Kailua showers. If it is really coming down, or if you have booked a ceramic coating that needs dry conditions, we will message you and reschedule rather than do the job badly.
Do I need to be home?
No. If we can get to the vehicle and you have told us where it is parked, you can be at work or at the beach. We will message you when it is done.
What do you need from me?
An outside water spigot, a regular outlet, and room to walk around the car. We bring everything else.
Will you come to Lanikai?
Yes. Parking is tight out there, so let us know when you book and we will figure out where to set up ahead of time.
Can you get tree sap off without damaging the paint?
Yes, if it has not been baking for months. Sap bonds to the clear coat and has to be broken down chemically and lifted with a clay bar, never scrubbed off. That is what our Clay and Seal service is built for. If it is already etched into the clear coat, that is a paint enhancement job.
